The Euro forecast: more storms or bright skies ahead?

The TCD Italian Society is pleased to announce a conference on the Euro-zone crisis.

Fiscal austerity in so-called PIIGS countries, such as Ireland and Italy, may be viewed as a constraint to national sovereignty. But what is the role of the common currency in the wider European project? Are PIIGS’ governments still in a position to promote economic development? What reforms are desirable at the European level over the medium-long term? These are some of the questions we will address with the help of our guest speakers:

Prof. Guido Ascari (University of Pavia)
Prof. John FitzGerald (ESRI, TCD)
Prof. Philip Lane (TCD)

When: 14/3/2012, from 19.00 to 21.00.

Where: Trinity College Dublin; Thomas Davis Theatre (ground floor, Arts Building)
