Davide Dotti and Caravaggio’s copyists

Following the recent sensational discovery in Castello Sforzesco, Milan, of nearly a hundred drawings
attributed to Caravaggio, a dispute regarding their authenticity soon ensued.
Davide Dotti, a young art critic and a columnist for the newspaper “Il Sole 24 ore”, disproved Caravaggio’s
paternity of the drawings, and showed that the drawings were actually the product of copyists.
Mr. Dotti is going to present his findings on the 27th of November, at 7.00 pm,
in the History Conversation Room, GMB, in a talk titled “Caravaggio and the contested attribution of one
hundred drawings of the Castello Sforzesco, Milan “.
The talk will be introduced by Adrian Le Harivel, the curator of the British Art Department at the National
Gallery of Ireland.
