Women’s Bodies (Il corpo delle donne)

Author and director Lorella Zanardo will talk to us and introduce the screening of Il corpo delle donne (Women’s Bodies), a documentary in which she explores the way women’s bodies are used by the Italian media. The film will be followed by an open Q&A session.

Trinity Senator Ivana Bacik will introduce the event.

Lorella Zanardo is an organisational consultant and lecturer on women’s issues. She is a member of the Advisory Board of W.I.N., an independent global women’s leadership organization. She has held positions in the marketing field for many years, including Marketing Director for Gruppo Mondadori. She has managed community projects in diversity management and organized and chaired innovative courses on themes of change for organizations and individuals. She has been a theatre and cinema actress and a past presenter at the W.I.N. conference. She lives with her two children, practices yoga and is currently writing a book on the developing role of women in society and organizations. Lorella is also the founder and Director of Sportgate, a company specialising in consultancy services and innovative training methods as practiced in the world of sports and through the stories of great Olympic champions. With this documentary, which she wrote and directed, Lorella has taken Italy by a storm and changed the way people think of women as portrayed by the media the world over.

Senator Ivana Bacik, LLB, LLM (Lond), BL, FTCD, is 42 and the Reid Professor of Criminal Law, Criminology and Penology at Trinity College Dublin (a position previously held by Mary Robinson and President Mary McAleese). She is a Senior Lecturer and also a Fellow of Trinity College (elected in 2005), and a practising barrister.
